Anime Festival Asia 2008
Come 22 & 23 November 2008, Suntec City will be home to the first ever annual Anime Festival Asia! For the first time ever, Singapore will celebrate the diversity of Japanese pop culture right here at home.
The AFA08 will showcase a wide array of Japanese pop culture related content such as Anime, Manga, Cosplay, Toys and many more. Spanning 5,000 sqm of space, visitors will get a chance to explore 6 distinct and unique experience zones: Akiba Town, Anime Live, Anime Blockbusters, Industry, Mangaka and Planet Mech. Visitors to the festival will gain access to exclusive content, merchandise and live acts straight from Japan, as well as to meet with some of their favorite Japanese pop culture icons.
Anime Festival Asia '08 will be held at the Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Halls 403 and 404 from 10.00 am to 9.00 pm. Tickts can be purchased at the door at $5 for a day and $8 for access to both days of the festival. Children under the age of 6 enters for free.
Anime Blockbusters: Showcasing exclusive footage, artifacts and creative scene materials such as storyboards, character and prop designs, this special content area will showcase some of Asia’s best and most successful animes, delivered to visitors via exclusive footage, artifacts, and rare materials behind the creative scenes, such as storyboards, character design, background design, and prop designs.
Anime Live: Featuring screenings of the latest anime titles, music performances, industry people live talk shows, Cosplay competitions and character appearances by Power Rangers, Tamagotchi family characters and more!
Some exclusive screenings include an anime short from STUDIO 4 degree's Genius Party Beyond and Tamagotchi Connection animation shorts.

Mangaka: Featuring all things related to Manga art, Mangaka showcases sketches from manga artists and Manga drawing competitions such as Graphite ’08 and Mangaka 08.
Planet Mech: Planet Mech features model kits and toys, including exclusive models for collectors.
Activities include:
- 2008 Bandai Action Kits Universal Cup (BAKUC) Competition
- Exclusive Product Sales Launch
- Children’s Workshops - Bandai action kit construction
- Perfect Airbrush Challenge
- “Gundam Seed Destiny” Diorama Display
- Sangokuden Product Showcase
Akiba Town: “Akiba” the nickname for Akihabara in Tokyo is currently the retail epicenter of Anime, Games and Toys in Tokyo. Akiba Town brings Akihabara right to the shores of Singapore with a market place that retails all things anime and Japanese related!
There will be exclusive limited edition items collectibles with previews of the latest anime game releases and a console gaming area in Akiba Town.
